Teresa Ciaravella

(The following is in the candidate's own words.)

Teresa Ciaravella has been a trustee of the York Catholic District School Board for the past seven years. Married for 24 years with one child in university and one in high school, she has a keen interest in Catholic education. Teresa is self-employed and has been a resident of Maple and an active member of the Catholic community for the past 18 years. She has been a recipient of the Volunteer Recognition Society’s Volunteer Awards for the past five years.

Teresa has been a dynamic member of many York Catholic District School Board committees, including Accommodation Committee (chair), Policy Review Committee (chair), Special Education Advisory Committee, Transportation Review Committee and many more. She was instrumental in ensuring the opening of St. Jean de Brebeuf Catholic High School in 2005, and, more recently, three new elementary schools in Vaughan.

Priorities:

Over the next four years, Teresa hopes to lobby for a new high school in the Maple/Kleinburg community, as well as petition the Ministry of Education for more funding for busing and Special Education. She is also committed to addressing the accommodation needs of the Ward 1 community and to building relationships between home, school and Church.
