Bernie Green
[Note: The following is an unedited version of the candidate's own words]
During my three terms as a Vaughan Councillor (ed. note - in office from '88 to '97) I helped to establish community institutions in Vaughan such as the Benjamin Vaughan Complex, the Bathurst Clark Library, the swimming pool at Dufferin / Clark, the Reena Foundation and the Associated Hebrew Schools. I also helped maintain low tax increases during these years in office.
Since 1998 I have been both a teacher and Business Department Head at a large Adult Day School in Toronto.
I am married, and have 2 children and 3 grandsons
Action Points:
Help restore Vaughan's reputation through my integrity, experience and believe in accountability and openness in government (Eliminate the mentality of privilege that the present Council has)
Have minimal or no tax increases
Address the growing traffic concerns (a major forum on this may be necessary to obtain new ideas). Ensure there is proper planning for the future
Continue working on bringing a Hospital to Vaughan
Continue and expand current environmental initiatives in Vaughan
